USCC 2008 Venue Style Sheet for Mage: the Awakening

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." – George Santayana

I. Overview

The Hierarch of Cleveland, OH, known as Mr. Blythe has combined with the Free Councilor known as Scry to issue a call for the Mages of the Awakened Nation. The combination of the Silver Ladder Hierarch and the Free Council Mastigos, while seemingly a contradiction in terms, has produced an invitation to an Awards Ceremony for the Awakened Nation. Those mages who have taken great actions on behalf of the Pentacle will be nominated and receive awards to recognize their wisdom and their efforts.

II. Setting

The setting for USCC 2008 Awakening takes place at and around the Hotel wherein the Awards Ceremony is taking place. Rooms have been blocked out for the attending mages, and convenient spells and wards keep the mages protected from prying eyes. Side rooms are available for the event and various entertainments. The first night is for the opening ceremonies and general socialization, while the second night of the event is the actual awards ceremony for the Pentacle Mages.

III. Player Information

Jurisdiction: This VSS is applicable to all sanctioned Awakening games, either ST moderated or in soft role-play, during USCC 2008, held in Cleveland, OH from May 8-11, 2008.

Universal VSS: All information in the Universal VSS is assumed to be included this Venue Style Sheet as well. Please refer to the Universal VSS.

Travel Information: Travel to the gathering in Cleveland is relatively simple thanks to access to the area by plane, train, or car. Your arrival at the convention out-of-character signifies your safe arrival in character.

Activation of Pre-Game Effects: All magical effects activated prior to the start of the game will be handled according to the Mind's Eye Theater Book, page 166. Characters are granted successes equal to their unmodified Stamina * Gnosis for precast spells and effects, to be split amongst a number of spells no greater than their Spell Tolerance (i.e. unmodified Stamina). Each character is required to have listed their pre-cast spells and effects, as well as any mana costs or investments, either upon their sheet or on an item card.

Mana: Characters entering play are assumed to have replenished their mana via oblations, hallows, tass, etc. They enter play full on mana, less any mana associated with costs for their pre-cast spells as above, invested into hanging spells and affects, or as invested into shielding spells (such as Magic Shield or Numinous Shield).

Challenges: All challenges will follow the rules as clarified by the latest Camarilla rule supplements. Players are free to throw challenges with each other without the Lead Storyteller, except for in the case of combats and/or in any situation that will result in the death of a character. The Lead Storyteller, or a designated narrator, must be present and give permission before any combat and/or character death occurs.
